In Idaho I used to use old sheets to cover in a freeze--often it is a scare and the sheets will do the trick--If it really gets that cold you just wait for them to come back and they will.
Reply:Lilacs and daffodils will be fine without covering. The hosta plants should be fine too. I don't know about azaleas though. I can't grow them here. The cannas, if they are just bulbs in ground they are also safe. I'm not sure if they need cover if they have new growth though. Good luck!
Reply:I'm sorry I don't have any answers for you but I'm needing the same advice could you please let me know what you find out also Thanks Steve
Reply:Wheezy,

We're in Marietta, so your cold weather is comin' our way!! Never use plastic! It traps the cold and will harm your plants. Paper bags will do over small plants, but I'm in agreement with an earlier post . . . Sheets. Everyone has them (I think) and their size is great for beds or larger shrubs.

Stay warm!!
Reply:Plastic tarps or sheet plastic at home centers. Large sheet plastic is easily cut to size. Plastic flower pots for smaller plants.
